Poor (young) tree being hammered by aphid type thingies!kathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11942085793879842222noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-837290389468057781.post-59926772473621729602008-03-07T09:34:00.000+02:002008-03-07T09:34:00.000+02:00Denise, you do know how to make a girls day.Denise, you do know how to make a girls day.Heloisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11215609537682352878noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-837290389468057781.post-35503948145960331742008-03-07T06:01:00.000+02:002008-03-07T06:01:00.000+02:00We've given up on roses here in our sub tropical c...We've given up on roses here in our sub tropical climate - although there are some great rose collections locally - but I think it takes a lot of upkeep!
Taking a drive up your way recetly made me realise what harsh conditions you have to deal with and marvel at how well you do!Denise Kigganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09052704511710456758noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-837290389468057781.post-89604309340652261362008-03-06T15:59:00.000+02:002008-03-06T15:59:00.000+02:00I do have a last flush and I usually prune in Augu...I do have a last flush and I usually prune in August. Allthough I'm still pretty insecure about my pruning skills. I don't have a long dormant period at all, but I could change the soil. Is feeding not enough?
Thanks for taking the time to chat. As gardeners, we understand roses in late summer. Do yours produce a last flush before winter? Again, I am not experienced growing roses in containers but I wonder if vigor is more a result of soil quality more than size of container. Perhaps you could change the soil when the plants go dormant (do they go dormant in your area),and prune them hard when they start to break.

BTW I LOVE the containers!kjohnsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02344820709410403592noreply@blogger.com
